ABOUT RATCHET RACING

Ratchet Racing competes in Ontario's highest league of road course racing, organized by CASC_OR (Canadian Auto Sport Clubs Ontario Region). Races are held across Ontario, including Mosport International Raceway at Bowmanville, Shannonville Motorsports Park outside Belleville and Calabogie Motorsports outside Ottawa. The series is called Mobil 1 GT Sprints and consists of 8 race weekends, with 3 races each weekend.  Other series that travel with the GT Sprints are the Formula Fords open wheel series, Formula Libre and 1200 open wheel series and the vintage race car series.  Our original car was a race prepared 1991 Cheverolet Camaro and was originally raced in the Player's Gm Series that ran from the mid eighties to the early nineties, although unsure of who ran the car in that series, have been led to believe that the car was driven by Robin Buck Cascar/Nascar Canadian Tire series driver at the Molson Indy one year.

In late 2010, we purchased one of the original pro-truck series trucks, which is a townsend chassis built in North Carolina. It has a 2002 Chevy Siverado body. The truck has proven to be the correct choice. In it's first seven starts we have been on the podium every time, with four first places, two seconds and one third.

Team owners Scott and Vickie Tapley have made race weekends a family affair, so race weekend includes the whole family including the dog and guinea pig!  The car is driven by Scott Tapley who has always been a gearhead and decided to try racing in 2007. Starting out in the Mobil1 Solosprint Series in 2008 which he finished 12th overall in his class. In 2009 Scott obtained his FIA "A" license.

In 2011, Scott is running in the GT Challenge Series with ten races. There is one three hour race, one hour and a half race and the remaining are one hour races. As of July 16th 2011, Scott is currently in first place. We are now half way through the season, with hopes of increasing his point lead. Check back for updates!!
